Philip "Phil" J McBride
November 5, 1940 - December 5, 2020

Philip "Phil" McBride, 80, of Zearing, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. To honor Phil's wishes a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing, Iowa. A visitation will follow from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing, Iowa at a later date.

Phil was born in Marshalltown, Iowa to Ermal "Max" and Inez(Adams) McBride. He grew up in Zearing, Iowa where heattended school at Zearing. He survived Polio as a 5th grader and graduated from Zearing High School with the class of 1959. Following school, Phil began driving truck for Reece's Trucking, Langland's Trucking, and Lefty Lepper hauling livestock. He married the love of his life, Sandra Kuhlman on April 19, 1969 at the Christian Church in Zearing, Iowa. They both began working for Dick Sparrow's 40 horse hitch until they began their own tiling business and later owned St. Anthony Market in St. Anthony. Phil then went to work for Barr-Nunn Transportation as an over the road truck driver and retired in 2002. In retirement, Phil worked for Denny Dunn, Kenton Woster, and Harold Walter where he drove combine and did general farm work. Phil was very active in the Zearing community where he served on the Zearing Fire Department for over 20 years and was the Fire Chief several of those years. He was a First Responder for many years and served as a Cemetery Township Trustee since 2001. Phil loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed the many trips they had together. He also enjoyed working and building things in his woodshop. His stories and sense of humor will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife Sandy McBride of Zearing; sister Jan McBride of Zearing; sister-in-law Jo Nizzi of Clemons; niece Theresa (Paul) Schnepf; nephew Michael Nizzi; niece Susan Dobbs; great-nephews Colton Schnepf, Coby Schnepf, and Ryan Dobbs; great-niece Maelen
Schnepf and Sarah Dobbs; cousins Bob (Tanis) McBride and Jim McBride; and many close friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Phil and his family.

"Philip was a great guy. He and Sandy were family members that kept in touch with my Mom after Dad died. Helen Moore is my Mom. She passed away in September this year at the age of 99. "Phil was one of a kind! Quite the Jokester! Jack and I cherish the frie friendships that developed over the years. The trips we took together, the fun that the 4 of us shared...will remain treasured memories! He had a way of telling a story so so well...that usuay ended up being a big ole fabrication! He got .me with those olot.Jack so enjoyed when they worked together. They had so much in comon. I'm glad they remained friends all these years. We will miss is his humor and witt.
