John C. Dohlman, 71, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton, Iowa. He was born January 18, 1949, in Hampton, Iowa, to John "Jack" and Louise (Bender) Dohlman. John graduated from Hampton Community High School in 1967.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971. John was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1976 - 1996 as a Mortar Platoon Sergeant. He worked and retired for the State of Iowa Highway Division after 34 years. John was an avid bowler in his earlier years and went to many state and national tournaments. He loved watching sports, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, and Minnesota Vikings.
John is survived by his sister Patricia Chaplin of West Des Moines, sister Barbara Orr of Des Moines, brother Alan (Judy) Dohlman of Waterloo, sister Kathy (Todd) Sheppard of Hampton, and sister-in-law LuAnn Jackson of Webster City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friend Les Lilly of Sheffield.
John is preceded in death by his parents and brother Denny.
