June 7, 1924 - October 30, 1999

MUSCATINE - Robert J. Danay, 75, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 30, 1999, at Unity Hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Muscatine. Military rites will be conducted by a joint squad of the VFW and the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Dan Danay, Larry Danay, Steve Danay, George Danay, Ivan Danay, David Danay, and Melvin Danay. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Monday by the Knights of Columbus at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Robert Danay Memorial Fund. Mr. Danay was born on June 27, 1924, in Numa, Iowa, the son of George and Mary Brdar Danay. He was united in marriage to Willadean Haught on June 26, 1948, in Numa, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War 2 serving in the US Army in Japan. He was employed at Thatcher Plastic Manufacturing for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary Church, the Knights of Columbus, The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Crotian Fraternal. Survivors include his wife, Willadean of Muscatine, one son, Rob Danay and his wife Amy, of Muscatine; five daughters, Debbie Blake and her husband Tom; Rosalind Danay; Kathy Erwin and her husband Jessie; Bonnie Estabrook and her husband John; and Ms. Teresa Kulick, all of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren: William Danay, Laura Danay, Ron Schreurs and his wife Cindy, Becky Schreurs-Marks and her husband Steve, Jon Blake, Josh Blake and his wife Tandi, Jeremy Blake, Sara Pogemiller, Eric Pogemiller, Ashlee Estabrook, Drake Kulick, and Jason Erwin; four great grandchildren: Cole Schreurs, Jenna Marks, Clayton Blake, and Bailey Schreurs; three brothers, Fred and John Danay of Rock Island, Illinois, and George Danay of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a daughter Rebeca, one brother, and three sisters.
