Lavon L. Hahnbaum

MUSCATINE - Lavon L. Hahnbaum, 72, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 30, 1999, at Genesis West Hospital, Davenport, IA, after a long illness. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. John Paul Gallagher will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Muscatine. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Lavon Hahnbaum Memorial Fund. Mrs. Hahnbaum was born on February 18, 1927, in Cotter, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Elaine Sommerville Gardner. She was united in marriage to Arthur J. Hahnbaum on August 20, 1947, in Davenport. She was a resident of Muscatine most of her life. She and her husband lived in Florida from 1978 to 1991 where she was employed by the Cape Coral School District. Prior to that she was a clerk for several years at JC Penny's Co. on Iowa Avenue. She was a receptionist for Dr. Lease for ten years. Survivors include three sons, Ron Hahnbaum and his wife Therese of Muscatine, Michael Hahnbaum and his wife Deanne of Fruitland, Kirk Hahnbaum and his wife Rita of Muscatine; one daughter, Cindi Hodes and her husband Dick of Roeland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one brother Don Gardner of Garland, Texas; one sister, Shirley Garrett of Washington, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 28, 1991.
