Frances L. Sloan

ALEDO, Ill. - Frances L. Sloan, 80, of Aledo, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The Rev. Rachel Stockle will officiate. Burial will be at the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lynncrest Manor Nursing Home or the Arthritis Foundation. Mrs. Sloan was born May 5, 1919, in New Boston, the daughter of Guy and Maggie Bloomer Beard. She married L. Curtis Sloan on Nov. 20, 1948, in Kahoka, Mo. He died March 19, 1984. She received her education from the New Boston schools. She was a homemaker and was accommodating to friends and family who visited their farm and home. She was a member of the New Boston Conservation Club and the Methodist Church. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing, quilting and her cats. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Marshall Hogren of Orion and Sara and Paul Welp of Dodgeville, Wis.; a nephew, she raised, Roby L. Sloan of St. Joe Michigan; eight grandchildren, Jamie Hogren of Orion, Darin Hogren of Davenport, Amy Smart and Jodi Haug, both of Madison, Wis., Jeff Welp of Dodgeville, Wis., Greg Sloan of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jennifer Fricano of Chicago, Ill., and Margie Huesing of Aurora, Ill.; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Eldon Beard of Monmouth, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alice Coffee.
