"I worked with Carol for over 12 years in the Public Health Department. She touched many lives over the years and thoroughly enjoyed home visits with families and their newborn. I have fond memories of baking Christmas cookies with her, Teresa, and her mother when my daughters were little girls. She will be missed by many as a true genuine loving and caring individual. Carol Ann Tropple, of Antigo, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at home. She was 76 years old. She was born on July 2, 1944, in Antigo, a daughter of Frank and Elvy (Aird) Tropple.
She was a graduate of White Lake High School in 1962 and continued her education at Marathon Center in Wausau.
She served in the United States Army as a Medic Nurse from February 1, 1966 to January 12, 1969 having been stationed in Europe.
Following military service Ms Tropple attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1973.
She worked as a registered nurse at Lakeshore Manor in Madison for 4 years. She moved to Antigo in 1977 where she worked for the Langlade County Health Department as a registered nurse for 33 years retiring in 2010.
Ms Tropple was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church, its Rosary Society, and the Antigo Garden Club.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, and volunteering at church where she served on the funeral dinner committee.
Survivors include brother, Dawayne Tropple, Shawano; four cousins, Patrick Aird, Antigo, Michael Aird, Kathryn Aird, Sue Meharg, Antigo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Therese Tropple.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum.
Antigo Veterans will conduct military honors following services at the church.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.

"I first met Carol and Teresa at a function at Sts. Mary and Hyacinth church awhile ago. Teresa reminded me of St Teresa of Liseux, quiet and contemplative. Carol was the talkative one, like St Teresa of Avila, an active contemplative. I wish I could have gotten to know them both better. I thought of Carol a couple of weeks ago.
