Irene Carr WASHINGTON - Irene L. Carr, 85, of Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Halcyon House in Washington. Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington. The Revs. Robert Bell and Everett K. Burham will officiate. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home. Mrs. Carr was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Letts, the daughter of Faye and Jessie Dickerson Letts. She married Arnold Carr in Washington.She lived in Washington since 1943. She graduated from High School in Letts and the University of Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and served on every committee in the Church. She was a member of the D.A.R.; a Campfire leader, and led Y.W. Youth Day Camp for years. She served on Lacour Evangelism Mission to Japan for the summer of 1954. She was a volunteer worker for the Appalachia Program. She was office manager and accountant for the Turkington Cattle Company in Washington. Survivors include a daughter, Geri Nickerson Carr Lubash and her husband, Glenn, of Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Donald E. Nickerson of Texas; four grandsons, Scott and Mark Simpson, Jeffrey and Eric Nickerson; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Buffington of Mount Pleasant and Mrs. Cora Pingree of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Chester D. Letts of Oxnard, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Carr; brother, Lloyd Letts; a sister, Kathryn Rodell; and a grandson, Steven Simpson.
