June C. Zierke, 92, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Funeral service will start at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
June Charlotte Carlson was born on June 6, 1928 in Clay Township south of Fort Dodge. She attended Burnside High School and graduated from there in 1947. Following her education, she had various jobs including as a bookkeeper for Tierney Electric, Fort Dodge Creamery and Gates Department Store. She was a volunteer for many election polls and a cook for the hot lunch program at St. Paul Lutheran School.
On April 17, 1949 she was united in marriage to Duane Zierke and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. June was a wonderful, loving, giving, patient wife and a devoted mother to her 6 children. She enjoyed quilting with the St. Paul Women and playing cards with good friends. June loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
June will be lovingly remembered by her survivors include her husband of 71 years Duane of Fort Dodge, daughter Pat Zierke of Nevada, IA, son Paul (Lorna Postma of Hull, IA) Zierke of Spirit Lake, son David (Terry) Zierke of Hawarden, IA, daughter Janan Winn of Iowa City, daughter Lynne (Dan) Haub of West Branch, IA, daughter Carol (Brent) Tonne of Granada, MN, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Conrad Trusty of Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Lillie (Lundgren) Carlson, sister Darlene Trusty, son-in-law Alan Winn, daughter-in-law Mary Zierke, mother and father-in-law Rose and John Zierke, special uncle and aunt Carl and Nina Johnson.
Memorials may be left to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund or St. Paul's Women's Quilters.
Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
