Harold Smith MUSCATINE - Harold Leroy Smith, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Parrott will officiate. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Smith, Karl Reichert, Nathan Reichert, Richard Hines, Steve Smith, Michael Gaeta and Steve Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Schuessler, Loren Jarrett and Raymond Meyn. Organist will be Florence Hetzler. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harold Smith Memorial Fund. Mr. Smith was born on Oct, 21, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Horton and Louise C. Nau Smith. He married Betty A. Hines on Dec. 12, 1945, in Muscatine. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Muscatine. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School class of 1939. He enjoyed gardening, inventing work-saving devices and he liked shop-woodworking. He was a self-employed carpenter for quot;Smith Carpenters quot;. Survivors include his wife, Betty Smith, of Muscatine; three sons, Charles Smith and his wife, Teresa, William Smith, Edward Smith, all of Muscatine; a daughter, Kathleen Smith DVM of Loves Park, Ill.; two grandchildren, Timothy and Whitney Smith of Muscatine; a brother, Robert Smith and his wife, Lucretia, of Franklin, N. C.; and a sister, Mabel Reichert and her husband, Elmer, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Lee Smith.
