Sophia Rogers ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Sophia J. Rogers, 85, of Rock Island, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center, West Rock Island, Ill. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. The Rev. Dr. Donald Batz will officiate. Burial will be at Drury Reynolds Cemetery in Drury Township, Ill. A luncheon will be served following services at the First United Methodist Church in Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, Friendship Manor Benevolent Fund or Schleroderma Foundation. Mrs. Rogers was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Drury Township, the daughter of Ed and Lucy Watson Reynolds. She married Frank A. Rogers in Ottawa. She was a member of the First United Methodist in Rock Island, Camp 281, Royal Neighbors of America, Vashti Shrine No. 23, OES Chapter in Moline, AARP No. 1202, in Scott County Chapter. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She worked for Royal Neighbors of America for over 30 years and retired in 1976 as an auditing supervisor. Survivors include a son, Earl M. Rogers of Iowa City; a sister, Monna L. Smith of Muscatine; a brother, Rev. Cyril R. Reynolds of Muscatine; six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979.
