Carl Johnson TIPTON - Carl Joseph Johnson, 55, of Tipton, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, in a hunting accident. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. The Rev. Norman Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fla., the son of Cecil Joseph and Gloria Barb Johnson. He married Betty Salyars on Oct. 18, 1994, in Rochester. He was a superintendent at Wendling Quarry for 10 years. He received his education from HLV Community High School. He was of the Methodist Faith and a member of the American Legion in Ladora. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967. Survivors include his wife, Betty Salyars Johnson of Tipton; a daughter, Haylee Reif and her husband, Travis, of Conroy; two sons, Eric Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Jeremy Johnson of Ladora; stepchildren, Rita Reed and her husband, Tom, of Tipton, Randy Phelps and his wife, Angie, Russell Phelps and his wife, Cindy, and Roger Phelps, all of Iowa City, Lisa Meiers and her husband, Rich, and Michelle Jacoby and her husband, Quenton, all of Tipton; grandchildren, Emilee Reif and Madilyn Jacoby; a brother, Richard Johnson and his wife, Susan, of St. Ansgar; and his mother, Gloria Barb of Ladora. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Joseph Johnson and his wife, Linda Johnson.
