July 21, 1913 - December 17, 1999

Marjorie Beck DAVENPORT - Marjorie M. Beck, 86, of Wilton, formerly of Muscatine and Davenport, died Friday, Dec. 17 1999, at the Wilton Care Center. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Runge Mortuary amp; Crematory in Davenport. Burial will be at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Beck was born July 21, 1913, in Long Point, Ill., the daughter of Leslie C. and Edna Stith Miller. She married Waldo Beck on May 18, 1935, in Princeton, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1983. She graduated from Davenport High School. She received her degree from Marycrest College. She taught in several country schools in Davenport and Muscatine areas over the years and taught in Madison School in Muscatine from 1963 to 1979. She loved teaching and her students loved her. Memorials may be made in her name for a student of Madison School in Muscatine. She enjoyed gardening and canning the foods she grew. She also enjoyed playing cards and loved her many pets. She is a lifetime member of the National Education Association, The AARP, and the Hillcrest Baptist church. She is survived by her son and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Joyce Beck of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Travis, and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy and two grandsons.
