February 22, 1939 - February 23, 2000

James Kelsey KEITHSBURG, Ill. - James M. Kelsey, 61, of Keithsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. There will be no service. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Private interment will be at a later date at the Greenmound Cemetery in Keithsburg. Mr. Kelsey was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Keithsburg, a son of John and Bessie Belle Landrith Kelsey. He received his education from the local schools. He married Konna Klossing in 1959 and later married Helen Wright Bradley on June 19, 1980, in Aledo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed at Cannon Bronze in Keithsburg and later employed at Keller Ladder in Muscatine retiring due to disability. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his children. Survivors include his wife, Helen; five daughters, Dena Kelsey, Verna Lenz and her husband, Steve, of Keithsburg, Virgie Bradley of Wapello, Mary Carle and her husband, Richard, of Joy, Ill. and Keri Kelsey of Keithsburg; six sons, Virgil Kelsey of Monmouth, Ill., John Kelsey of Long Beach, Calif., John Bradley and his wife, Karla, of Muscatine, William Bradley and his wife, Ronda, of Aledo, Ill., and Brett and Corey Kelsey, both of Keithsburg; three foster children, Tia and Amanda Powers and Alex Amaya, all of Keithsburg; nine grandchildren; and a sister Wanda Groce of Keithsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
