Wellman- James "Jim" Junior Ehrenfelt was born August 18, 1932, in Muscatine, Iowa the son of James Russell and Lavada (Gingerich) Ehrenfelt. He attended Mid Prairie High School. On April 6, 1950, Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Miller at the Baptist Church Parsonage in Wellman. In his earlier years, he worked for Wilson's Meat Packing in Cedar Rapids, Amana Refrigeration, drove a school bus for Mid Prairie Schools and later was a co-owner and operator of Kalona & Wellman Ready Mix. Jim was a member of the Wellman Baptist Church and the VFW in Richmond. He enjoyed gardening tomatoes, playing cards and having a beer or two with friends. Jim died on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Halcyon House in Washington at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Kathy West both of Wellman; a son Larry Ehrenfelt of Garden City, Kansas; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a brother Bill Ehrenfelt of Wellman. He was preceded by his parents and two brothers Kirk and Larry Ehrenfelt.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are for the Wellman Fire Department and First Responders. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
