Matthews, Mrs.
Marjorie May
Muskegon
Marjorie May Matthews passed away peacefully at the age of 98 in Grand Haven Michigan. Marge was born in 1922 to Emma (Behm) and Edson Bulkley and was the youngest of five children. In 1927 the family moved to North Muskegon "up on the hill" where she, her siblings and neighbors had many adventures. She attended North Muskegon Public Schools, graduating in 1940. During the 1940's and early 1950's, Marge worked for Sealed Power Corp. as a switchboard operator. She also volunteered during these War years with the American Red Cross Volunteer Motor Corps. On December 5, 1952 she married Howard V. Matthews. She was an instant Mom to Sandra, Howard's three-year old daughter from a previous marriage. Howard and Marge had two children of their own; Ann and Peggy. Marge's great loves were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and, of course, her dogs. She had several Dachshunds though all the years, cherishing them all. Marge also worked for Steele Junior High School during the 1970's and 80's serving cookies and milk to the students. She loved working there for the kids and with many co-worker friends. Marge resided in Muskegon her whole life until moving in 2018 to assisted living in Grand Haven. Marge was a member and volunteered with the Hackley Hospital's Cherry Guild, VFW, Girl Scouts, and through her church activities with the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Bill) Funk, Peggy (Mark) Boelkins, grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Kevin) Huss, Kimberly (Jon) Hekman and Bradley Boelkins, and great-grandchildren, Emma Huss, Mackenzie Hekman, Addison Hekman and Luke Hekman.
