A. K. 'Les' MacLennan
March 20, 1919 - February 11, 2001

Dr. A.K. "Les" MacLennan ALBUQUERQUE, N. M. - Dr. A. K. 'Les' MacLennan, 81, died Feb. 11, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Mr. MacLennan was born March 20, 1919, in Lander, Wyo., graduated from Natrona Co. High School in Casper in 1936. He worked at the Ohio Oil Company until his enlistment in the Army Air Corp. in March of 1942, serving in World War II until March, 1946. He attended the University of Wyoming, and graduated from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Ill., in 1950. He practiced in Chicago and Sioux City before coming to Muscatine where he was in practice for 31 years. After the acquisition of his practice by Dr. Mark Hansen, he retired in May of 1986 and moved to St. Pete Beach, Fla. in 1997, they moved to Sandia Park to be near their son Scott and family because of his illness. The past three years he lived at Laurel View Healthcare in Albuquerque. He was a member of Pasadena Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, Fla., former deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Muscatine and past Exalter Ruler of Elks Lodge No. 304. He was a lifetime member of the American Optometric Association, the Iowa Optometric Association and Mississippi Valley Optometric Society. He will be remembered for his love of God, his dedication to his patients, his ready smile and wonderful sense of humor. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Muscatine, Pasadena Presbyterian Church or Alzheimers Disease Research, 15825 Shady Grove Road, Suite 140, Rockville, Md., 20850. He is survived by his wife, Dale of 51 years, of Albuquerque, N. M.; sons, Scott MacLennan and his wife, Maria, of Sandia Park, N. M. and Mark MacLennan and his wife, Kendra Paulsen, of Wilsonville, Ore.; four grandchildren, Ian and Michael of Wilsonville and Alexis and Maxwell of Sandia Park; a brother, Jack and his wife Sue of Casper, Wyo.; and a sister, Margaret Nelson and her husband, Kenneth, of Cody, Wyo.
