ROBERT DEASON AURELIA, Iowa - Robert W. Deason, 79, of Aurelia, died Sunday, March 21, 2001, following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. The Rev. Jack O. Weida will officiate. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. Mr. Deason was born Feb. 2, 1922, the son of Walter and Maude Parman Deason in Siloam Springs, Mo. He married Maxine Traynor on June 5, 1946. He graduated from Albany High School in 1940. He received his degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a bombardier in World War II. He worked for Farm Bureau as a fieldman in Ida Grove. He lived in Sioux City and in Aurelia during the 30 years he was a cattle buyer for Armour, Needham Pack, Spencer Pack and Land O'Lakes. Since 1985 he and his wife spent the winters in Tempe, Ariz. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed planting flowers, playing bridge, shooting pool, and he loved the Midwest and the good Iowa farmland. Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Aurelia; three sons, John Deason and his wife, Carolyn, of Muscatine, Dwight Deason and his wife, Marijo, of Des Moines and Dennis Deason of Aurelia; a daughter, Win Ann Dell'Ario of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; a grandson, Jay Grimes and his wife, Tina, of Craig, Colo.; a great-grandson, Caleb Robert Grimes; three sisters, Margaret Johnson of Albany, Mo., Louise Gates of Sebree, Ky. and Grace Knight and her husband, Wilford, of Robards, Ky., three sisters-in-law, Lois Deason and Norma Ruth Deason of Albany, Mo., and Nellie Deason of Smyrna, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews and friends.
