Francis Cooney MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Francis ''Frank'' Leo Cooney, 71, of Muscatine, died Friday, September 21, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Parrott officiating and with the Rev Hal Miller, a lifetime friend of the family, assisting. Anne Olson will be the organist and Kathy Cox the vocalist. Grandchildren that will be Pallbearers are Mitchell Prashak, Aaron Tank, Nicholas Kaeding, Nathaniel Kaeding, Jaclyn Kaeding, Tyler Cooney, Dillon Cooney, Jared Blaesing, Daniel McFate, Darrin McFate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in the name of Frank Cooney. He was born January 1, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Sidney F. and Mildred L. Seal Cooney. He married Marilyn J. Schaer Oct. 13, 1950, in Muscatine. He was a veteran of the Army. He and his wife spent their married life here and he had been employed in various positions at Grain Processing Corporation for 38 years before retiring in 1988. He has especially enjoyed being with his family and attending the grandchildren sporting events, playing cribbage, traveling and golfing. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and New Hope United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Diana Tank and her husband, Jeff, of Muscatine; Teresa Kaeding and her husband, Larry, of Coralville; Jane McFate and her husband, Patrick, of Muscatine; one son, Patrick Cooney and his wife, Paula, of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Ethan Barrett. Also surviving are two brothers, Marvin Cooney and his wife, Marilyn, of Muscatine and Darrell Cooney and his wife, Anita, of Moline; two sisters, Janet Martin of Muscatine and Marilyn Reese of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Branson Barrett, and one brother, Keith Cooney.
