September 25, 1949 - December 4, 2001

Gerine Tenold WEST LIBERTY, Iowa #45;- Gerine Tenold, 52, of West Liberty died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at her home following a battle with cancer. Graveside services are Saturday at First Lutheran Church Cemetery in St. Ansgar. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iowa City or the American Cancer Society. In her honor, a designed quilt square was sent to the Precious Moments Pink Ribbon Quilt Collection to benefit breast cancer. Miss Tenold was born on Sept. 25, 1949, in Mason City, the daughter of Vern and Geraldine Tenold. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1967. She earned a liberal arts degree and an English major Dec. 19, 1998, from the University of Iowa. After moving to West Liberty with her family she worked at Louis Rich Foods. In the spring of 1999 she started as a professional scorer and later an editing production clerk at NCS Pearson in Iowa City. She enjoyed writing poetry, Friday restaurant night with her family, going to the movies and 60s music. She was devoted to her family and her church of 35 years, Family of Faith Community Church in Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her mother; two brothers, Bruce of Waterloo and Mark and his wife, Shanna, of Burns, Tenn.; two sisters, Jill Tenold and Lori Tenold, both of West Liberty; two aunts, Grace Tenold of Kensett and Lois Tenold of Albert Lea, Minn.; three nephews, Joshua and Matthew Tenold of Alabama and Corey Tenold of Tennessee; a great-nephew, Gavin Tenold of Alabama; numerous cousins, special friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lincoln and Ina Priem; her paternal grandparents, Henry and Minda Tenold; her father in 1983; aunts, Carma Hagen, Mildred Anderson and Maxine Tenold; and uncles, Orland Tenold, Hardine Tenold, Dean Tenold, Stanley Anderson, Bob Hagen and Eugene Priem.
