Margaret McKanna JOY, Ill. #45;- Margaret E. McKanna, 83, of Joy died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo, Ill. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Elder Ronald Symmonds will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Millersburg, Ill. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mrs. McKanna was born on March 26, 1918, in Mercer County, the daughter of Amos and Delia Attig Allen. She married William D. McKanna on Feb. 14, 1946, in Joy. He preceded her in death April 5, 2000. She graduated from the Joy High School. She was a custodian and cafeteria worker in the Joy school and later was a bookkeeper for Alexander Lumber in Joy, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Muscatine, former member of the Aledo Women of the Moose Lodge and member of Mooseheart of Illinois. She enjoyed cooking. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Smith and her husband, Gary, of Muscatine; a grandson, Patrick Smith of the USAF stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho; and a brother, Carol Allen and his wife, Marjorie, of Aledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and a brother.
