Marie Fuller ANKENY, Iowa #45;- Marie 'May' Fuller, 103, Ankeny, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Mill Pond Care Center, Ankeny. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. Burial will be at Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chinkapin Bluffs Recreational Area. Mrs. Fuller was born on Nov. 7, 1898, near Milan, Ill., the daughter of John and Josie Keller Strayer. She married Ward De Pue Fuller on Dec. 12, 1917, in Rock Island, Ill. She worked with her husband in their automotive garage and on the farm. Her interests were reading, poetry, flowers, music, crocheting afghans, walking in the timber, pansy hill and hunting mushrooms. She was the first woman on the City Council in Cotter. She had driven a school bus. She was a member of the Old Clifton Club. Survivors include six children, Richard Fuller of Columbus Junction, Robert Fuller and wife Kathleen of New Port Richey, Fla., Edward Fuller and wife Shirley of Muscatine, Marcia Gabriel of Ankeny, Mary Hill of West Des Moines and Harriett Heckenthorn of Madrid; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Miller of Flagler, Colo. and Ida Lowe of DeWitt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Paul Fuller and Josephine Crumly; four brothers, Edward, George, Bernard, Arthur Strayer; and two great-grandchildren.
