Walter Mohnsen MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Walter C. Mohnsen Jr., 80, Muscatine, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Iowa Veteran's Home, Marshalltown. There will be no visitation and a private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Veteran's Home, Attention: Business Office, 1301 Summit St., Marshalltown, IA 50158. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Mohnsen was on born May 9, 1921, in Moline, Ill., the son of Walter Carl and Helen Mae Dora Mohnsen. He married Dolores Elizabeth Fuller on April 30, 1947, in Muscatine. He was a graduate of Indiana University and did graduate study at Butler University and the University of Iowa. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sr. Master Sgt. after 28 years. He taught at the Department of Defense Information School, Indianapolis, Ind. He also taught eight and one-half years at Muscatine Community College, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 304. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Mohnsen and his wife, Ann, of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Matthew and Kaeli Mohnsen of Cedar Rapids; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Simpson of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Mohnsen.
