Arloine Burmeister MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Arloine B. Burmeister, 86, of Muscatine, formerly of Blue Grass, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Lutheran Homes. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blue Grass Presbyterian Church, Blue Grass. The Rev. Charles Mills will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Charyn Mills and vocalist Henry Bentley. Burial will be at Durant Cemetery, Durant. Visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or Lutheran Homes. Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Burmeister was born on Dec. 1, 1915, in New Liberty, the daughter of Leonard and Ella Jockheck Arp. She married Forrest Burmeister on Sept. 8, 1940, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1997. She taught in country, one-room schools in Muscatine and Scott counties for six years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years; a member of the Pyramid Temple of Daughters of the Nile, the Scott County Pioneer Settlers Association and the American Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Society. Survivors include four sons, Leon Burmeister and his wife, Pamela, of Iowa City, Jon Burmeister and his wife, Patricia, of Beaumont, Texas, Neil Burmeister of Dubuque and Dean Burmeister of Stockton; a sister, Vivian Kalen of North Fort Meyers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Scot Burmeister.
