Max Hafner MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Max Leo Hafner, 80, Muscatine, died Monday, June 10 , 2002, at Unity Hospital. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Townsley will officiate. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Care Center. Mr. Hafner was born on Dec. 24, 1921, in Letts, the son of Guy and Aura Wilhelm Hafner. He married Yvonne Toland on Nov. 9, 1942, in Baltimore, Md. He farmed in the Letts area all his life and drove a school bus for the Louisa-Muscatine School district for more than 20 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Hafner and his wife, Liz, and Jon Hafner and his wife, Debbie, all of Letts; a daughter, Jayne Beverlin and her husband, Lyle, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon; a sister, Louise; and a granddaughter.
