OMER WHEELER BOYNE CITY, Michigan - Omer L. Wheeler, 90, of Boyne City died Sunday, August 18th, 2002 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 21st, 2002 at the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City, with a 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. viewing and 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. funeral service. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. East Jordan Branch - 6429 North Highway, M-66, Charlevoix, MI 49720. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2002, 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. He was born on July 6th, 1912 in Port Louisa, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Alice (Nott) Wheeler. On February 15th, 1937 he married Ruth Schultz, who preceded him in death on May 18th, 1973. After serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at the Washington Temple in Washington D.C. he met and married Madeline Ewing on November 12th, 1976. He served as Fireman First Class in the United States Navy during the Second World War. He for many years worked in the profession of Plumbing and Heating. He had many hobbies including, gardening, woodworking, genealogy, latch hooking and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Wheeler; one daughter, Phyllis (Joseph) Simonin of Maquoketa; two step children, David (Nola) Ewing of N Salt Lake, UT, and Susan (Thomas) Rainey of Boyne City, MI.; 14 grand children; 26 great-grand children; and one sister, Ann Brown of Wapello. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, and daughter Patsy (Bud) McMullen of East Peoria, IL.
