Hazel Petty BURLINGTON, Iowa - Hazel Mae Petty, 82, Rosebush Gardens, 1212 Indian Hills Drive, Burlington, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington. Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Prugh Funeral Service, Burlington. The Rev. Norman Wenig will officiate. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Petty was born June 12, 1920, in Rocky Run, Ill., the daughter of Charles Ernest and Mae Ellen Sovern Stratton. She married John Petty Jan. 17, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1988. She was a CNA at St. Francis Nursing Home and a teaching aide for 20 years. She loved to play bingo and cards. Survivors include two sons, William Petty and wife DiAnna of Wapello and Richard Petty and wife Debbie of Fort Madison; eight daughters, Sally Gann and husband Robert of Letts, Claudia Petty of Burlington, Linda Faulkner and husband James of Carthage, Ill., Roberta Hamilton and husband John of Fort Madison, Marsha Petty of Burlington, Connie Nuebel and husband Virgil of Fort Madison, Brenda Larkin and husband David of Burlington and Mary Ann Grelk of Burlington; 21 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Bowman and Dorothy Thele, both of Loveland, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
