Belva Hayes WAPELLO, Iowa #45;- Belva Hayes, 90, Wapello, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center, Wapello. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Harlan W. Winter will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Bev Parsons. Pallbearers are Douglas Paris, Allan Paris, Richard Paris, Nile Hayes, Chad Hayes and Corey Husak. Honorary pallbearers are Harlan Hayes, Robert Huff, Charles Huff and Kenneth McChesney. Burial will be at Wapello Cemetery, Wapello. Visitation is after noon Tuesday, with the family present 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established to benefit various charitable organizations. Mrs. Hayes was born on Dec. 6, 1911, near Newport, the daughter of Charles and Vergie Strickler Hamilton. She married Sumner Hayes on Nov. 20, 1930, in Cattril. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1989. She spent her early years in the Newport area and attended Bethel, Newport and Victory schools. She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1930. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband near Oakville and then moved to rural Wapello. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wapello, and a 50-year member of the Derexa Rebekah Lodge, Wapello. She was a former member of the Jefferson Circle and had attended Women's Farm Bureau. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and was a member of the Colonial Quilting Club. She enjoyed and hosted many family gatherings. She was a resident of the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center since September 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Paris and her husband, Bill, and Marilyn Lynch and her husband, Duane, all of Wapello; a son, Milton Hayes of Wapello; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and two sisters.
