Minerva Pennington COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa #45;- Minerva Pennington, 93, Columbus Junction, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, Columbus Junction. A luncheon will be held after the funeral at the church. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established for the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Meal Site, Columbus Junction. Mrs. Pennington was born Aug. 30, 1909, in Wellman, the daughter of Edward Forest and Nellie Sleichter Jones. She married Rev. George Pennington July 28, 1929, at her parentsÕ farm home. After graduating from Wellman High School in 1927, she took Normal Training and taught at Union School, a one room rural school, for a year. She was the pianist at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church where she met her husband. She served beside her husband for more than 40 years. She enjoyed attending church, participating in its women's activities, baking for the church and her family, going on bus trips, being with friends and playing Canasta at the Meal Site, reading, growing house plants, but most of all, she enjoyed her family and family get-togethers. She was an active member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and a 46-year member of PEO Chapter CX. Survivors include a son, Rev. Paul Pennington and wife Sharon of Keokuk; a daughter, Martha Murry and husband Ron of Columbus Junction; 12 grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Pennington, Cynthia Walton, Juli Servatius and their mother, Sally Pennington, Kim Olson, 1st Sgt. Kraig Pennington, Kevin Pennington and their mother, Phyllis Hill, Lt. Commander Will Pennington, Susan Starr, Teresa Clark, Melinda Simmons, Wendy Young and R.D. Murry; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Thora Jones; a niece, Carla Rossow and husband Fred and their daughter, Evelyn Rossow; and a daughter-in-law, Ardella Pennington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Dr. Robert Pennington and John E. Pennington; a brother, O. Dale Jones; a sister, Phyllis Emde; and a granddaughter, Tracy Murry.
