Susan Margaret Johnson, age 88, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Seminole Shores Living Center in Norton Shores, Michigan. She was born in White River Township (Montague), Michigan on December 13, 1932 to Otto and Kathryn (Higman) Ernst and married Clifford Johnson on July 18, 1959.

Susan graduated from Montague High School in 1951 and attended Muskegon Community College. She worked as a nurse's aide for Dr. James W. Barnes M.D., in Whitehall, Michigan prior to raising her family. Mrs. Johnson was very creative and loved drawing, art, designing, sewing, and other craft projects. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, volunteering as a room mother in her children's classrooms, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Susan and her husband were members of the Viking Lodge and Sons of Norway for many years.

Mrs. Johnson had a heart of gold and was always willing to roll up her sleeves and help those in need of assistance, whether they were family, relatives, friends or complete strangers.

She is survived by two daughters, Annette Vetter of Grand Rapids, and Karen (Eric) Wahlberg of Norton Shores; five sons, Robert (Dolores) Johnson of Rockwall, TX, Cliff Johnson, Jr. of Spring Lake, James Johansen of Spring Lake, Lawrence (Lauren) Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, and Jason (Nia) Johnson of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren, Jacob, Sam, Azzie, Astrid, and Otis; brothers, Otto Ernst of Montague, and John (Ann) Ernst of Jenison; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford, on September 24, 2016; son-in-law, Kirk Vetter; sisters, Kathryn Goeres and Ruth King; brothers, Tom Ernst and Paul Ernst; nephews, Erik Johnson and John King; niece, Connie Harris; and twin infant daughters in 1962.
