Gerald Chambliss TIPTON, Iowa #45;- Gerald W. Chambliss, 87, of 210 E. Sixth St., Tipton, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Pallbearers are Rob Chambliss, Brad Chambliss, Steve Passmore, Doug Grunder, Jon Grunder, Tim Chambliss, Mark Chambliss, Mike Grunder and Brent Chambliss. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mr. Chambliss was born on Jan. 6, 1916, in Blue Grass, the son of Charles Raymond and Ivah Benshoof Chambliss. He married Norma Mildred Birkhofer on Aug. 5, 1936, in Rock Island, Ill. He graduated from Tipton High School. He owned and operated Chambliss Transfer and was employed at the Tipton Shell Station and Midway Oil in Atalissa. He was a member of the Tipton Lions and Masonic Lodge No. 11. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shirley Grunder and her husband, Marlyn, of Wilton and Pat Parker and her husband, Don, of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Robert Chambliss and his wife, Judy, of Muscatine and Ronald Chambliss and his wife, Diane, and Richard Chambliss and his wife, Kay, all of Tipton; a brother, Floyd Chambliss and his wife, Marquerite, of Muscatine; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Chambliss; a brother, Lester Chambliss; and a great-grandchild.
