Erma Globes MUSCATINE, Iowa - Erma A. Globes, 88, formerly of 3006 Park Avenue West, died Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2003, at Lutheran Homes. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 11:00 a.m. the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street. The Rev. Bernard Weir of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Rock, Jerry Ochiltree, Leo Ochiltree, Richard Ochiltree and Roy Nesbit. Pallbearers are David Lerch, Jimmy Herbert, Kevin Carter, Dean Carter, Homer Snyder and Robert Bertotti. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a funeral luncheon at the Moose, immediately following the committal service. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the funeral home. Mrs. Globes was born May 1, 1915 in Oelwein the daughter of Frank and Anna Tomney Marten. She married George "Heinie" Globes June 7, 1942 at the St. Mathias Chapel in Muscatine. She had lived in Muscatine most of her life. She graduated from the St. Mathias High School. She was a member of the St. Mathias Catholic Church. She was a member of the Muscatine Garden Club, and a 25-year member of the Women of the Moose. She and her husband were members of the Antique Car Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and cooking. She loved dancing with her husband, working on crossword puzzles with her family, playing cards and going to flea markets. She and her husband had enjoyed many years of membership at the Elks and the Moose Lodge, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had worked for the Batterson amp; Wessels Button Company, and later worked for the H.J. Heinz Company and the Muscatine General Hospital for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia "Pattie" Carter and her husband, Daryll, and Georgia Snyder and her husband, Dennis, both of Muscatine; three granddaughters, Julie Lerch and her husband, David, of Fruitland, Kathy Carter and her fiancé, Mike Townsley, of Muscatine, and Dennell Herbert and her husband, Jimmy, of Muscatine; two step grandchildren, Kevin Carter and his wife, Diane, of Muscatine and Dean Carter, of Louisa County; three great-granddaughters, Tiffany Lerch, Kayla and Brittany Herbert; three step-great grandchildren, Heather, Kevin and Jessica Carter; and three step great-great grandchildren, Raven Grady, Darian Carter, and Abby Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Nov. 23, 1991.
