Ernesto Martinez MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Ernesto C. Martinez, 93, Muscatine, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. The Rev. Dan Robbs will officiate. Casket bearers are Ramiro Hernandez Jr., Elias Villalpando, Shawn Bloommhuff, Trent Bloommhuff, Jessie Martinez and Tyson Smith. Honorary casket bearers are Josh Besick, Ernesto Martinez Jr. and Domingo Martinez. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Martinez was born June 12, 1911, in Goliad, Texas, the son of Nestro and Trindad Cardenas Martinez. He married Lydia Vela in 1960. He was employed at the H. J. Heinz Co. before retiring after several years, and was also an electrician. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching wrestling. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ernesto Martinez Jr. and Domingo Martinez, both of Muscatine; three daughters, Jane Hernandez and husband, Ramiro, of Muscatine, Connie Bloommhuff and husband, Douglas, of Davenport and Linda Besick and husband, Jody, of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Frank Martinez and Ricky Martinez; seven brothers; and four sisters.
