Harold Forbes ALBERT LEA, Minn. #45;- Harold Elmer Forbes, 72, Anytown, USA, formerly of Lone Tree, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Lone Tree American Legion. The Rev. Terry Digmann will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. After the military rites, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Private family visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. The Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Lone Tree, is handling the arrangements. Mr. Forbes was born Sept. 23, 1931, in rural Lone Tree, the son of Elmer Wilson and Martha Oberman Forbes. He married Mary Lou Mills on Oct. 24, 1953, in Nichols. He was a 1951 graduate of Lone Tree High School. After graduation, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He trucked for Hanks Trucking, Jones, Harriett and Stevens Sand and Gravel and Fuel Oil in Iowa City, Farm and Fleet out of Muscatine and Iowa City and then Ace Line Inc. Trucking out of Des Moines. He was a member of the John L. Mumm American Legion Post 457 in Lone Tree and was a past member of the Iowa City Moose. He dearly enjoyed spending time traveling across the United States and camping with the Good Sam's Camping Club where he served as ambassador. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry Forbes and wife, Annette, and Glen Forbes and wife, Kathleen, all of Lone Tree; two daughters, Deb Ford of Nichols and Tammy Digmann and husband, Terry, of Anamosa; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Meerdink and husband, John, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
