ROSEMARY 'RODIE' BERMEL
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Rosemary G. Bermel, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Lutheran Living Senior Campus with her husband by her side.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021, at St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Chris Weber will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Bermel, Brian Bermel, Zachary Bartling, Joseph Bartling, Austin Cavazos, Logan Cavazos, Nathan Miller, David Miller, Tony Luebbert, and Matt Keabert. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Ss. Mary Mathias Parish, Hospice Compassus, or Lutheran Living. Rosemary was born on April 20, 1931, in Muscatine, the daughter of Edward and Clara Fuhlman Blaesing. She married Albert Bermel Jr. on September 6, 1953, at St. Mary's in Muscatine. They were married 67 years.

Rodie enjoyed gardening and family get togethers. She raised seven children and later, was an Avon representative until she was 80 years of age. Rodie was an avid Cubs fan, she never missed a game! She loved to watch all Iowa sports.

She is survived by her husband, Albert 'Junior' Bermel of Muscatine; her children, Betty Burch and her husband, Jim, Chris Luebbert, Mike Bermel and his wife, Cathy, Dan Bermel and his wife, Pam, Judy Bartling and her husband, Kim, Sue Boldt and her husband, Jason, and Shelly Corman and her husband, Joe; 20 grandchildren, Nikki Smith, Jessi Freers, Marci Cole, Tony Luebbert, Amy Luebbert, Matt Keabert, Chad Bermel, Samantha Griffin, Brian Bermel, Stasha Wilks, Stephanie Bartling, Zach Bartling, Joe Bartling, Tyler Miller, Nathan Miller, David Miller, Austin Cavazos, Logan Cavazos, Connor Corman, Hunter Boldt; and 18 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Bernice C. Angell, Arline M. Bermel, and Marcella Cirivello; and two brothers, Arnold T. Blaesing, and Gerald E. Blaesing; and a great grandchild, Audrianna Griffin.
