MUSCATINE, Iowa - Maria Guadalupe Leza, 65, of Muscatine, passed away February 5, 2021, at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on February 11, 2021, at St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Rudy Juarez will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ralph J. Maria Guadalupe was born on February 4, 1956, in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of Trinidad Victorino. She married Cruz S. Leza on December 29, 1973, in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico.

Maria was employed by the Muscatine Community School District. She was a member of the Mission de Guadalupe/Ss. Mary Mathias Parish. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, spending time with her family, and most of all, showing her grandkids to dance.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Cruz of Muscatine; four children, Maria Frausto and husband, Marino, of Muscatine, Santos Leza and fiancé, Nicole, of Moline, Illinois, Ricardo Leza and wife, Veronica, of Muscatine, and Jorge Leza and wife, Jamie, of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren, Adrianna Leza and fiancé, Jesse Molina, Jose Richmond, Michael Leza, Isaiah Leza, Alexander Leza, Elijah Leza, Madyson Leza, Jimena Frausto, Noah Leza, Fernando Frausto; one great grandson, Jesse Molina; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Maria is preceded in death by her mother; all her uncles and aunts from Mexico; one grandson; and one brother-in-law.
