In loving memory of

Sharon Butterworth

SHARON BUTTERWORTH
To have known Sharon Butterworth was to have known a loving mother and wife, a spiritual parishioner, and a fierce friend.

On Saturday, February 6, Sharon Therese Beckey Butterworth, died in her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 29, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa where she grew up, raised a family and was a contributing member of her church and community. Sharon grew up being a score keeper for her brothers' games which sparked an enthusiasm for sports that she held throughout her life. She graduated from Hayes Catholic High School in 1966 and then from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 where she earned her teaching certificate. Sharon brought her love of books to her students as a teacher at Muscatine High School from 1970-1975 and remained an avid reader and book club participant. Her passion for books and sports was rivaled only by her love for her children. She went to every recital and game and would speak of her children's accomplishments to anyone who would listen. After giving them all her love and support to adulthood, Sharon threw her energy into her church. She was a parishioner and volunteered as a financial secretary at Faith United Church of Christ. Sharon also served as Vice President of Butterworth Clock Inc.

Some of her most treasured memories were those of her time spent with her family in Disney World. Sharon also extended her kind heart to her furry friends, feeding the wildlife in her backyard, giving to pet friendly causes and was never far from one of her cats.

She is survived by her husband Mark Butterworth of Muscatine, her brother Tom Beckey of Davenport, her mother Therese Barraud Beckey of Muscatine and her children Lyne Butterworth of Kissimmee, FL and James Butterworth (Jennifer Ancell) in Shawnee, KS.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Darrell, her brother Terry and her sister Travaughn.

In the spirit of her generosity, the family would ask that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the Faith United Church of Christ or the Muscatine Humane Society. Upon Sharon's request, no services will be held.
