GLEN FRENCH MUSCATINE, Iowa - Glen Russell French, 81, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Diane Townsley of the Oxford United Methodist Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Brian Starkweather, Andrew Starkweather, Jeremy Schreurs, Bill Kelting and Dale Haury. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Hospice Program. Mr. French was born on October 5, 1922, in Wapello, the son of Leslie "Nick" and Cora May Ayers French. He married E. Maxine Allicks on April 17, 1943, in Muscatine. He was a farmer and owner-operator of Kerr-McGee Service Station. He retired from McKee Button Company. He was a long-time Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's ballgames. He is survived by his wife, E. Maxine French of Muscatine; one son, Wayne Russell French and wife, Vickie, of Muscatine; two daughters, Glenna Kay Starkweather of Muscatine and Pam French of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Beth Meyers and husband, Jim, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Debra Polston and husband, Gary, of Buffalo, Missouri, Brian Starkweather and wife, Debra, of Illinois City, Illinois, and Andrew Starkweather and wife, Michelle, of Letts; one step-granddaughter, Jenny Schreurs and husband, Jeremy, of Muscatine; nine great-grandchildren, Justin and Matt Polston, Darris Meyers, Allison and Taylor Starkweather, and Brittany, BreAnna, Jake and A.J. Starkweather; three step-great-grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Skyler and Kyden Schreurs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilma Haury.
