Betty Lou Markgraf
October 21, 1929 - February 10, 2021

Betty Markgraf, of Antigo, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at home. She was 91 years old. She was born on October 21, 1929, in Laona, a daughter of Matt and Rose (Mihalko) Kemmer. She married Robert "Rozzie" Markgraf on January 22, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1970.

She attended St. John Parochial School and graduated from Antigo High School.

She and her husband owned and operated Markey's Bar (currently Heartbreakers) for 40 years. She was also employed in Antigo at the Dime Store and Montgomery Wards in the 1940's followed by Arrowoodhead News in the early 1950's. She worked at Kasson's Drive-Inn from 1964 to 1968. Mrs. Markgraf had a long career at Clermont Printing retiring in 1991.

She was a member of the Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2653 - Auxillary, SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and its prayer chain.

She loved gardening, watching birds, crafts, baking and cooking.

Survivors include a daughter, Candace (Steve) Mattern, Fairfield, California; four sons, Buzz (Janelle) Markgraf, Antigo, Scott Markgraf, Antigo, Randy (Libby) Markgraf, Jacksonville, Florida, Kip Markgraf, California; two sisters, Mary Ann Crawford, Antigo, Shirley (Jack) Harder, Antigo; a brother, Dick (Charlene) Kemmer, Antigo; eleven grandchildren Ty Mattern, Sean (Katie) Mattern, Ashley (Todd) Diehl, Tessa (Michael) Thompson, Shanna Koeppel, Rozzi Markgraf, Amanda (Jake) Bockes, Katie (Pete) Korbisch, Seth (Jeanna) Markgraf, Harbor Jones, Alexandra (Ronald) Hill ; 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren and a brother, Bob Kemmer.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday February 25, 2021, at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church 819 Third Ave Antigo, WI 54409.
