Visitations: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, with a 7 p.m. Christian wake service, and one hour prior to services Wednesday, church. DURANT, Iowa #45;- William A. Kuster, 87, Durant, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at his home. Casket bearers are his family. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill., with military honors conducted by the Durant American Legion Post 430. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Kuster was born March 25, 1917, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Nicholas and Gertrude Noll Kuster. He married Rosella M. Strong April 21, 1960, in Sleepy Eye, Minn. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a carpenter at Swanson Construction, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Durant American Legion Post 430 and CarpenterÕs Union Local 166, Rock Island. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia Foor of Muscatine, Theresa Kuster of Rochester, Minn., Mary Lavoie of Lexington, Ky.; six sons, William Kuster of Hampton, Va., Michael Kuster of Knoxville, Tenn., Thomas Kuster of Madrid, Tim Kuster of Colorado, Allan Kuster of Reynolds, Ill., and John Kuster of Davenport; three sisters, Ida Rhode of Omaha, Neb., Laura Walliser and Marge Birdy, both of Canada; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded by in death by his parents; two sisters, Susie Adams and Mary Holverson; and four brothers, Nicholas Kuster, Henry Kuster, Frank Kuster and Clarence Kuster.
