November 10, 1946 - February 16, 2021

Adaline Christile "Chris" Elrod, age 74 of Mitchellville, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of Chris' life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com


Chris was born on November 10, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines. On October 13, 1995, she was united in marriage to Michael Leroy Elrod in Prairie CIty. Chris worked in several places throughout her life but most recently she worked as a House Manager at Progress Industries, retiring almost 20 years ago. She enjoyed her gardening, going to flea markets and her cats and dogs. Mostly she enjoyed cooking for the many gatherings of family and friends and spoiling her grandbabies

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Michael; four children, Kohlyne (Dusty) Herwehe, Teri (Matt) Williams, Michael (Lynn) Elrod, Jr., and William Elrod; she was "Granny" to 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, along with many others she considered extended family. Preceding her in death was her mother, Kathryne Long and an Aunt, JonDee Beers.
