My fondest memories with Krista came from our long conversations when she would give me rides home from Luther College. I think we found every wrong turn between Decorah and Maquoketa across those few years! She always was quick to laugh and find the good in events and people. "
"To Gene, Marta, Evelyn, Karen and Kendra with famliies: We wish to express our deepest sympathy to you all. We would love to be in Iowa to express to you our sympathy but please know we love you and will have you in our hearts and prayers during this time and in days to come. Gene & Marta, how blessed you were to have had Krista as a wife & Mom! Her smile, wisdom and love of life will live on in both of you because she showed all of us how to live life to its fullest! We count it our blessing to have had her as a friend and we know she brought much happiness to all those she crossed paths with! May God comfort all of Krista\'s family & friends as only He can do at this time! We love you!"
"To the Family of Krista Grant:

"Words cannot begin to describe the shock of the news of Krista\'s passing. Ours hearts go out to you Gene, Marta and the rest of the family. She was such a wonderful influence around this community and will be missed terribly. But, not as much as she will be missed as a wife and mother. May the love she taught stay with you always. God doesn\'t always make it easy for those left behind, but know that she is in His glory and heaven got a great one. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. "
"My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Grant/Fagerland famiies. Krista was an exceptional person and will be missed by family, friends, coworkers and community. I hope to leave 1/10 of the mark on the world that Krista has. "
" To Gene,Marta,Evelyn,Karen,Kendra and families: How shocked and saddened I was to hear of Krista\'s passing. She was a delightful young woman and I enjoyed working with her very much on Peace Pipe Player productions as well as singing in the choir with her in church. She had a marvelous singing vocice and an amazing actress. As I have read in other tributes she always had a kind word for anyone that she met and she made you feel that you were very important in her life. She is with the people that she loves dearly and that is her father and her son. Everyone is going to miss her, but especially all of you. Know that you will always have your memories and in time the pain will ease. I would like Evelyn and Kendra to know that my Mom is in heaven now too and I had a short chat with her and I asked her to keep an eye on Krista until the rest of you can be with her and she gave me a sign that she heard. A cardinal flew over my head and sang. God Bless you all and I will remember you all in my prayers."
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family Krista has left behind. In high school, she was always kind, considerate and an inspiration to those of us who knew her, however fleeting that time was."
"Terribly sorry for your sudden loss. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time."
"I was so shocked when I heard of Krista\'s illness and then her untimely death, that I have no words to express my feelings. I last saw Krista and Marta at the Jackson Co. Fair and we had a nice chat about Marta\'s pigs. Krista was so proud of her and her projects, as a Mother should be. I will never forget her exceptional smile when she would greet you and the wonderful experiences that I will remember from working at MSB with her. She never forgot us employees on the teller line and always had an inspiring word for us, even when she was auditing our drawers. We are loosing a great family member of MSB. Gene, Marta, Evelyn, Karen and Kendra, you all have our deepest sympathy at this time. Just remember the good times and the happiness that her and John share now that they are together. Our Prayers are with you all."
"To the Grant and Fagerland Families: In my lifetime, I have only met a few individuals that I have considered truly exceptional. Krista was one of them. Lord knows that we did not always agree on everything, but at the end of the day there was always mutual respect and acknowledgement that we were both trying to make something better. I am confident that Krista is doing just fine in God??s Kingdom and God has probably already given her a project that needs a solution or leadership. You are all in my thoughts and prayers because the loss is always the hardest on all of us that are left behind."
"My deepest sympathy to the Fagerland, Grant and Ohnward families on the sudden loss of Krista.
Before retiring from American Trust I had the
pleasure of dealing with Krista on many occasions
There was know one more fair and professional than
she was to deal with.
"
"The sorrow I feel is so hard to express, but I feel I must say what a wonderful person Krista was and how her passing has left a gaping whole in our world. She would be feeling so bad that we are so sad. Krista, Gene and Marta are part of our church family. Just a week ago we were sitting next to each other sharing the peace of our Lord and talking about the week ahead. Krista-we will wrap our arms around Gene and Marta and try to help them go on as we did when the three of you lost Andreas. That is what you would be doing if you were here. We will try to live up to your mission of being positive forces in the lives of others. God Bless You."
"I am so sorry for this sad news. Krista visited us in Norway several times, and she learned to speak norwegian very well. She was my penfriend for many years, and this last year we regained new contact through Facebook. I will miss her. Your whole family are in our thoughts."
"To the Grant, Fagerland, Tubbs and Ohnward families: It is difficult to find any words to express the sadness and void we all feel at this time. Krista was a beacon of light and she will shine on brightly in all our hearts. Even though she has left us here on earth, I believe all of us who knew her have been graced by her love and caring heart, which will live on in us all going forward. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God\'s Love & Blessings ~ Ranae & Howard Neese"
"My deepest sympathy to the Fagerland, Grant and Ohnward families on the sudden death of Krista. You\'re all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."
"We are very sorry to hear about the loss of Krista. She was a very nice person. Our thoughts & prayers are with all of you. You have our deepest sympathy. Her spirit and the person she was will live on in all of you and those who knew her. God bless...."
"Gene and Marta, So sorry for the spelling mistakes that I had in the previous, especially when I can\'t even spell my own name. I guess that the sorrow is showing in my typing of this. Again all our love to you and Marta and the rest of the families. Love you all
"
"Gene, Marti and families.
I am still in shock over the death of Krista. I feel that God wanted me to see her when I was home and I thank him for that every day. Dan and I are thinking of you every day and just know that Krista will always and forever be in your hearts and watch over you. "
"My family said a prayer for your family. I keep thinking of how Krista is with her dad and her son...and how she\'s touched so many. I admired her volunteerism...rasing money for Sunshine, for the YMCA...even planning a class reunion. Her work ethic as a strong female role model will inspire others forever. Krista, you are a classy lady. Thank you for always giving and thinking of others first. Our community is better because of you. We\'ll continue to pray for your family."
"Wow...strange and overwhelming how life can change in an instant and we\'re suddenly reminded to not take anything for granted. Krista lived life to the fullest and leaves behind an immeasurable void. I love the picture you chose-that smile never faded. It\'s how I will always remember her. I pray that God gives you strength every day to continue on and live like Krista did. I hope you feel immense pride, Aunt Evelyn and family, for raising such a wonderful woman who has impacted so many people\'s lives-it\'s quite a mark to leave in this world. I also pray that one day those who received her organs reach out to you and give you peace. Our entire church is praying for you-Gene, Marta, Aunt Evelyn, Karen, Kendra and all my cousins for strength. Uncle Johnny and Andreas hold her now-what a warm reception she is receiving. With Love,"
"To Krista\'s family. You have our deepest sympathy. Evelyn and Karen are in my Womans club. What a terrible tragedy for your family.May God keep you in His care. Our prayers are with you. "
"To Krista\'s Family:
We are at a loss for words to express our how saddened we are at the loss of Krista. She was special to so many people in so many ways. We will always remember the time we spent with Krista, Gene, and Marta at our home in Florida and our visits to Iowa. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you."
"Gene and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all."
"A Tribute To Krista Grant
The sun came up this morning although last night I wasn??t sure it would because reality didn??t make much sense last night. It still doesn??t but the reality is that we lost a large part of Ohnward yesterday and it will take a long time to fill the void that Krista has left.
I write this as a tribute to Krista. She was my friend, a confidant, and often times helped to keep me grounded. I could talk with her about almost anything and we had open, honest, and sometimes heated discussions but they were always helpful and respectful.
She meant so much too so many of you. She always had time to listen and to want to help. I was talking with someone yesterday who said that is what they like about this organization is, ??that ownership treats us like a part of the family.?
She even took my leadership class a couple of years ago because she said ??You should never stop learning.? One of the assignments I always ask participants to do is write a personal mission statement. Krista struggled with that for awhile and didn??t like some of the things she came up with. Then she said to me. ??Our vision statement says it all if I just take one word out.? So her personal mission statement became. ??Every day I will make a POSITIVE difference in the lives of everyone I touch.? No question that she did that and more.
There was a time that I made a pretty big mistake and she scolded me pretty good. A couple days later she came into my office, shut the door and put a Diet Coke and a bag of peanuts on my desk and said ??Let??s talk.?
No matter how busy she was she would either stop what she was doing and give me her full attention or she would say, ??Just give me 2 minutes? and then you would have her full attention. She was tireless in her work ethic and giving for the team.
It was not uncommon for her to work 12 hours here and then go home and work more. Just a couple of weeks ago she was working on a policy and sent it to me for review. I sent it back to her about 3:00 pm with the comment that it was ??a little harsh sounding.?
I got it back about 10:30 pm that same evening. She was amazing in her attention to detail. I drove her crazy but she never let on. But she loved to correct my spelling and punctuation and I gave her lots of opportunities.
This is my favorite photo of Krista. I popped into her office one afternoon (getting ready for the Ohnward Christmas party) and she was up to her elbows in work. I said \"I need to get a quick photo of you.\" to which she promptly answered NO! and then turned and gave me this smile and pose.
We will get through this. Al and I visited this morning and he wanted everyone to know that we will be able to fill the responsibilities that Krista had. But we are all aware that we can never fill the void she left.
Finally as the caring and giving person she always was she was also an organ donor so true to her mission she is still making a positive difference in the lives of others
"
"My sympathy goes out to everyone in Kristas family. Can not even grasp the fact she was way too young to have lost her life. Again, you have my sympathyy"
"As I sit and write this I still cannot believe that this is real. That someone so young and full of life could be taken so quickly from her family, friends, job and community. Krista and I had our daughters one week apart and my heart hurts, especially for Marta. To rest of the family my thoughts and prayers are with you as you get through this very difficult time. Krista was a wonderful and caring person and she will be greatly missed."
"To Krista\'s family - I was a classmate of Krista\'s. What I will always remember about Krista is that she never had a bad word to say about anyone. And that is saying something about high school! My prayers for all of you as you deal with your loss."
"To Krista\'s family - please accept our deepest sympathies in this difficult time. Krista was a very sweet person with a heart of gold. Cherish the fond memories, as they will grow measurably each day."
"I was so saddened to learn of Krista\'s death. She was one of my best friends the few years that I lived in Maquoketa back in 5th-7th grades. I then I got to reconnect with her again at Luther. I have many fond memories of hanging out with her in their cool basement. She was such a sweet spirit. I know she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time."
"To the Fagerland and Grant Families, Hun var en gave til oss. Hun gjorde ik\'ke ta, hun gav. My prayers. "
"I\'m so saddened to think that Krista\'s ever-present smile and sweet giggle have been extinquished (on this earth at least). I have so many fond memories from High School (countless vocal rehearsals and an awesome shared experience at All State, to name a few) and Luther College. She was one of the sweetest souls I have known. Such an accomplished woman...I\'m sure she will be richly rewarded in heaven. A blessing to all who knew her. Prayers for all but especially for Gene, Marta, Evelyn, Karen, Kendra and their families."
"Evelyn and family,
Krista will be missed by many, this is quite a shock.
She was a gift sent from heaven. A floodgate opened with memories pouring into my soul as I heard of her passing.
Playing dots in church, when we should of been listening; to choir and band in school.
I know she is singing in heaven.
I want to express my deapest sympathy to all of her family.
"
"To the Grant and Fagerland Families:
Our thoughts and prayers are with your families. We are so saddened by this news. Krista\'s joyful spirit will always be remembered and will carry on in others that she touched with her infectious smile and personality. We are thinking of you and send our sympathy."
"Evelyn, Kendra, and families, I send my deep condolences at the loss of sister, daughter, and friend. I just learned of her passing today. Such a shock for all of you. God had a plan for her, a plan he has for all of our lives and he decided it was time to let her go. I did not know Krista, but from the tributes I\'ve read so far I wish I had. You can be proud of her shortened life in many ways. May God wrap his arms around all of you at this time of immense grieving and sorrow. Please know that you are very much in my prayers. She is with John now and in a more peaceful loving world with Jesus. God bless you all."
"Not a minute has gone by these last few days that I have not thought of Krista and the Grant and Fagerland families. Although I didn\'t work directly with Krista very often, I could feel the respect and the generosity that radiated from her shining on everyone she came into contact with. Her smile was infectious and her strength envious. Her determination and passion for her job was one of the many reasons she was respected the moment she walked into a room. One can tell from reading all of the touching tributes to Krista that she meant so much to so many because of the wonderful person she was and the legacy she has left us with.
"
"We are so surprised and saddened by your loss of Krista and the loss to this entire community of such a vivacious and genuine woman. Words cannot express our most sincerest of condolences, but we wish you the love, peace and even laughter, that your many memories of Krista will bring you through the difficult days ahead and in the years to come. Bless you all and especially bless Krista, who gave in death,by being an organ donar, as wonderfully as she gave to all who knew her in life."
"So much done and so many people touched in such a special way by such a wonderful lady--may your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of her beauty--"
"Life is so fragile. Krista had so much love and caring in her, so many smiles and so much laughter, so many capabilities and so much strenght and youthful energy. That she should suddenly die is almost impossible to comprehend. I will cherish the fond memories from the year Krista was my sister and from later visits. My thoughts and love are with you in these difficult times Martha, Gene and Evelyn, Karen, Kendra, Jodi and all the rest of the family"
"To the family of Krista Grant, I can\'t begin to express my sympathy at the loss of such a wonderful person. I will keep your family in my prayers as you learn to handle her absence. "
"Our hearts cannot convey how much sorrow we feel for the Grant/Fagerland/Ohnward families during this time. Krista was a wonderful, caring Boss. Mike deeply respected and cared for her and is very saddened of this loss. After my mother\'s own stroke last year, she was so supportive of our family and told Mike to take care of his family first and foremost. You rarely find people who are kind like that these days. She had a heart of gold, and she will be greatly missed by so many people. Gene, Marta, and family, please know that we are praying for you every day and that you have lots of loving support to lean on. We love you!"
"To Evelyn and all of Krista\'s family - My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I wish I could be there with you. "
"To Krista\'s entire family, you have our deepest sympathys on your sudden and heart breaking loss. We did not know Krista very well, but she was always upbeat and smiling everytime we saw her. She will forever be in your hearts."
"To Mrs Fagerland and Krista\'s family:
It seems impossible that the sweet little girl I taught piano lessons to is no longer on this planet spreading her sunshine. I am terribly sorry for your loss and hope that the memories help sustain you.
Sincerely,
Pam Feit Gerleman"
"Fagerland & Grant Families:
Your loss is a void that even time does not fill, but may time help you carry on the legacy of Krista. I am truly sorry for your loss, she always knew you no matter where you were. She will be watching over you now with her Dad. "
"Kendra and Family of Krista~
May the Lord wrap his arms around each of you, during this very difficult, sad time. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs of sympathy, Penny"
"Although it\'s been many years since I worked with Krista, every time I would see her she always had time to smile and say hello. Her smile and kindness is something that will never be forgotten. God\'s arms are forever wrapped around her."
"Krista was one of the kindest people I\'ve ever met. It was truly a blessing to be in vocal with her in high school and then on to Luther. As I\'ve described her to others, I\'ve told them that if anyone were to get a free pass to heaven based on their earthly deeds, Krista would. I am so blessed to have known her. I pray that the Lord holds you closely during this difficult time."
"i wish there was something I could say or do to take away your pain. My every thought and prayer are with all of you.Krista had a smile and a personality that could light up the sky. she touched the lives of so many. she will be the bright star that shines down on you she ll be the warmth of the sun the whisphers of the winds will be her whispering i love you and the soft wind that brushes your cheek will be her kisses from heaven above. You have my deepest sympathy. God is holding her and his loving arms shes your guardian angel now , she ll walk beside you always loving you and guiding you everystep of the way. she will live in your heart and every memory forever. krista you will be loved and missed forever"
"Kendra & family,
