Frances M. (Sgroi) Ostrander, 91, of Kingston, NY, passed away February 17th, 2021 at her granddaughters' home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 8, 1929 in Kingston, NY, daughter of the late Mariano and Providenza (Mignoisi) Sgroi.

She was married to Frank N. Ostrander on September 12th, 1948. Frank passed away December 10, 1996. Together they had three beautiful children; Frances' daughters, Diana Travis and Shelley Baulsir both possessed a love, strength, and perseverance up until losing their courageous battles with cancer, two years apart from one another. They both had unprecedented love for their mother. Frances is survived by her son, Michael H. Ostrander. He would fill her heart and allow her to smile with a sigh of relief with his visit from her son who lived in California.

Frances was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren that came into her life and gave her a reason to live and to be loved again.

Frances worked many years in the Kingston City School District cafeterias. Later in life she worked at IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, NY, where she retired at the age of 80. On day trips to stores with her granddaughter you would often hear a "hello Mrs. O" from a prior student.

She loved her little home, a tiny coach house where she lived peacefully and quiet for many years alone. Her heart was filled when there would be a knock on the door from a visit from a grandchild, her nieces or nephew, or a beautiful neighbor who befriended her.

Her past two years were surrounded by love living with her granddaughter, grandson in law, Michael Ercolani and great grandchildren Michael and Bryn. Her comedian of a grandson would allow her to laugh and smile almost every day. She was given kisses from when she woke to hugs when she was tucked into bed. Her voice can be heard saying "thank you for giving me a family again". Her eyes would beam with visits from her grandson Benjamin Trapani and wife Gloria.

Frances is preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Sgroi, and her brother, Bobby Sgroi. She is survived by her son Michael H Ostrander, his children, Annie Ostrander and Rachel and Husband Max Schnittger, great grandchildren, Raydon and Masey from California, her granddaughter, Tari-ann and husband Michael Ercolani, great grandchildren, Michael and Bryn, her grandson, Benjamin Trapani and wife Gloria, her granddaughter from her late daughter Diana, Nicole Travis of Seattle, her son in law, Howard Baulsir who was married to her late daughter, Shelley, and grandsons, Eric and Bryan Baulsir.

Frances was blessed to be loved by her sister-in-law, Helen Sgroi, nieces and nephews and specially Raymond for respecting and loving their Aunt Fran.

"Aunt Fran I know that you are now with all of those that have gone on before you are withyour beautiful daughters Shelley and Diana your husband my Uncle Frank.. You are now able to visit with your parents, grandparents dancing and enjoying the beauty of Heaven. I will always remember the gatherings we had at your little house on Orchard Street and swimming in the pool. You always worked hard and never complained much about anything. You severed your Lord here on earth and now you have gone to be with Him. Your family here will miss you each and everyday, your Love will with all of us. I pray that God's love will give them comfort now and in the days to come. Goodbye for now and I will see you again in Heaven someday."
