Marilyn Hird, 69, of State Center, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Marilyn was born in Valeria, Iowa on October 25, 1951 to Lester and Opal Hird. The family relocated to Ames where she attended school and she graduated from Ames High School in 1971. She married Kieal Bonschmit and to this union two children were born. They lived in Zearing and Marilyn worked as a CNA. She retired from the Rehab of Hampton Nursing Home in 2014. Marilyn loved to spend time with her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, socializing with friends, eating at the Machine Shed every Sunday, and her beloved dog Paco.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her son Jim (Melinda) Bonschmit; grandchildren Dylan (Kelly) Gill, Brandon (Ashley) Bonschmit, Brock Bonschmit, Brooklyn Bonschmit, McKenna Bonschmit, Chelsea (Taylor) Robertson, Victor Sanchez, Ebony Rivas, and Gabby Rivas; great-grandchildren Chloe, Gracelynn, Kinsley, Raelynn, Caden, and Amiyah; special friend Randy Schoborg; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Theresa Rivas; granddaughter Morgan Bonschmit; siblings Shirley Good, Betty Horton, and James Hird; ; and ex-husband Kieal Bonschmit.
