In loving memory of

Teresita P. Ramos
February 6, 1947 - February 18, 2021

Teresita P. Ramos (age 74), known as "Tessie" or "Teri" by those who loved her and knew her well, passed away on February 18, 2021, after a valiant battle with COVID-19 and its complications. She is predeceased by her parents, Gil and Maria Ramos, her beloved husband, Dr. Jose Castillo, and her siblings, Jose P. Ramos, Ronnie P. Ramos, and Carolina R. Deang.

Gifted with a generous spirit and a willingness to embrace the woes of the world and offer hope, Teresita answered the special calling when she became a nurse. She worked in a Chicago nursing home for two years, then moved to New York, where she worked at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan for 37 years. She eventually moved to New Jersey but continued her work at St. Luke's, doing the long commute by taking an early morning bus from Mt. Laurel. She retired in 2010 to be with her husband and take care of him as he fought cancer.

Teresita was a pillar of strength, a calming, quiet presence and someone who readily offered words of encouragement and support. Even towards the end, as she struggled to breathe, her concerns were the well-being of others. She was thoughtful and charitable to a fault and reveled in assisting family members. She was fun loving and enjoyed spending time with family. Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, she had plans to travel, looking towards Costa Rica as her next adventure.

Teresita is survived by her siblings, Sister Maria Guadalupe P. Ramos, Romulo Fidel P. Ramos, Romulo Gregorio P. Ramos, Carmelita R. Yoder, and Renato P. Ramos. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.

Services are private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in Teresita's name to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
