Opal Lucille Schindler

Opal Lucille "Lucy" Schindler, 102, died on February 28, 2021, at Julia Temple Healthcare Center in Englewood, CO .


She was born September 14, 1918, in Sutherland, MO, to Nancy Hicks and Montie Bisby. She graduated from Excelsior Springs (MO) High School and Ecole Modele modeling school in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a model; as a secretary at the Sunflower Ordnance Works near Kansas City, KS, during WWII; and at an insurance office in Peoria, IL. She served nine years on the board of the Peoria Heights Library, was a member of the Peoria Garden Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of Entre Nous.

She was preceded in death by brothers Norman and Henry, sisters Bess Misfeldt and Louise Johnson, sons Jerry Parker and Steve Parker, and husbands R.L. Bentley, R.W. "Bill" Parker, and Harry Schindler. She is survived by one daughter, Dana Parker, of Denver, CO.

"This is my Aunt Lucy. She was my great aunt and always made me feel special. After her husband died she was moved to Colorado and I was not able to see her again or keep in contact due to the nature of the family problems. I miss her and love her very much. "
