Willis "Wayne" Dalton, 80, of Elmwood, passed away at 6:16 a.m., on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 10, 1940, in Galesburg, IL, to Willis Earl and Florence (Pennington) Dalton.
He married Connie King on September 15, 1961, in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by two children, Cathy (Mike) Clark of Tremont, and Jeremy (Denise) Dalton of Elmwood; and one grandson, Christopher Wayne Dalton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Lee Dalton.
Wayne was a Carpenter for over 40 years and was a member of the Peoria Carpenter's Union. He was a skilled woodworker and could fix anything. More recently, he worked at Peoria Airport and was an Elmwood School bus driver. Wayne had a God given talent for music which he shared with many people, bands, choirs, and the Senior Citizen Luncheon, M.A.N.N.A Meals. He also had a quick wit and a sense of humor about everything. Wayne was also a member of the Elmwood United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at LeHigh Cemetery, in rural Elmwood. Pastor Cathy Clark, his daughter, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elmwood United Methodist Church, B.Y.E. Ambulance, or Alzheimer's Association.
