Mildred E. Roberts
May 29, 1926 - March 4, 2021

Mildred "Millie" Eleanor Roberts, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021. She was a graduate of Middlesex County Vocational School 1943 and attended the New York Institute of Diatetics. She was a proud member and chaplain of the Lacey Elks Lodge in Forked River and an active member of Lord of Lords Bible Community Church of Waretown. At the Elks she and her husband served many hours organizing fund raising events to benefit Veterans as well as special needs children and she was inducted as a life-long member. Prior to retirement, Millie was employed in food service and banking. Millie's talents were many; she was a beautiful singer (including yodeling), excellent marble player in her youth, crafter and sewer, lifelong baker, and excellent Yahtzee player. She was a beloved sister, mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, community volunteer and friend. Millie had a special connection to animals throughout her life, caring for chickens, goats, chimpanzees, dogs (Goldie and Bandit), and too many precious cats to count. Millie served others before herself and lived out her father's advice to "always do a little more than is expected of you." She was preceded in death by her brother Richard, mother Frieda, father Joseph, loving partner Teddy, sister Margaret, and her beloved husband Douglas. She is survived by sister Marilyn, son Russell, grandson Russell, granddaughter Kristen, great grandchildren Delilah, Elisabeth, and Andrew, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family would like to express thanks for the wonderful care provided by Southern Ocean Hospital and hospice. A memorial service will be held at a later date, details pending. Memorial gifts can be donated in her honor to the Lacey Elks Lodge in Forked River, NJ.
