Arno Paustian DURANT, Iowa #45;- Arno A. Paustian, 89, Durant, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Sunny View Care Center, Ankeny. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. The Rev. Nancy Hoelter will officiate the services. Musical selections will be provided by organist Kathy Luethye and vocalist Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Charles Paustian, David Bowstead, Douglas Schreck, Don Kallenberger, Terry Riessen and Harris Schneekloth. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery, Durant. Visitation: 4-6 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance Service. Mr. Paustian was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Cedar County, the son of Adolph and Melinda Burmeister Paustian. He married Bernice V. Riessen Feb. 1, 1939, in Davenport. She preceded him in death June 29, 2004. He farmed in Cedar County his entire life. He was a member of the Durant Lion's Club, the Wahkonsa Country Club and the Durant Senior Citizens. He enjoyed all sports, especially basketball which in early years he played and coached. He loved golf, reading, especially National Geographic and crossword puzzles. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Cooper and husband Robert of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Dana Schreck and David Bowstead; and three great-grandchildren, Kurtis, Katie and Kari. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Sue Paustian; and a brother, Vernon Paustian.
