In loving memory of

Nina Knutson

Nina Victoria Knutson:

Nina left for the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, March 13th after being diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) just two months ago. When she came to us as a foster, she was just shy of two years old; after only a couple of days we knew we wouldn't be able to part with her. When Nina was surrendered to the rescue, it wasn't because her first family didn't want her, it was because they knew there might be a better fit for her active and working personality. We were blessed to be able to keep Nina's first family in our lives and we tried to meet up for visits when we could. We never imagined this sweet girl would leave us at only 7 years old. Thankfully, her last day was perfect as she laid outside in the yard soaking up the 60 degree day with us. When Nina wasn't basking in the sun, she was chasing her frisbee, playing with her French Bulldog brother Elmer and not-so-patiently waiting to eat or get treats. She was always eager to please, to protect and to give kisses. Our hearts are broken, but the memories she left are worth the pain.

"To the Knutson Family: Nina was so extremely fortunate to have found the best family to love and care for her! We missed her but felt such comfort to know her new family was very special. Her loss is such a shock. She was much too young but Nina will be remembered as a very special dobe - so fast, so athletic, so loving, so smart, so dependable, and so determined to catch that frisbee! Our kids remember cuddling at night, teaching her tricks (and being such a quick study), her loving greetings at the door, and fetching the newspaper off the driveway. She will be forever remembered and forever in our hearts. We miss you Nina!!"
