David Carlson Memorial cruise: Saturday, June 25, on the Queen 2 in Arnolds Park. A brief service will begin at 12:15 p.m. on the Queen prior to departure. MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- David Leo Carlson, 40, Muscatine, formerly of Sibley, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, after a brave battle with Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society specifically for Melanoma research, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, American Red Cross or the Humane Society. A memorial scholarship has been established in his name at WITCC especially for Spanish speaking students. He was an avid golfer and a very caring friend. He enjoyed Hawkeye football, the Green Bay Packers and Pearl City Rugby Club. He was a huge fan of musical artist Prince. His wit and charm will be missed. He was employed by Robert and Joann Jensen of Temp Associates. He particularly enjoyed helping Spanish speaking clients find employment. He enjoyed teaching several semesters at Muscatine Community College. He was a board member of the Louisa-Muscatine Red Cross and active in Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations. He had a Boston Terrier named Blanca. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Carlson; his parents, Leo and Shirley Carlson; two sisters, Mickie Honel and husband, Shawn, and family and Deb Smith and husband, Greg, and family.
